The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
