He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
