Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
