۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
