The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
