The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
