Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
