Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
