The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
