AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf, 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 Then We evacuated there from all the believers 35 And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 So were the People of Noah before them for they wickedly transgressed. 46
