He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
