The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
