۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said: "Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of those who play about?" 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense? 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 [But] We said: O fire! Be thou cool, and [a source of] inner peace for Abraham!" 69 And they wished to cause him harm, so We made them the greatest of losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
