No! By the moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 about the sinners. 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
