He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and purified. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
