The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 arise and warn, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he looked, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Blackening the skins. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
