The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which you are promised. 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says." 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
