The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
