۞ Now have We caused the Word to reach them themselves, in order that they may receive admonition. 51 Those to whom We gave the Book before this believe in it [the Quran], 52 When it is recited to them they say: "We believe in it for it is the Truth from our Lord. Indeed we were already Muslims." 53 These will be given their recompense twice, for they persevered and repelled evil with good, and spent of what We had given them. 54 When they hear idle talk they turn aside and say: "To us our actions, to you yours. Peace on you; we do not look for the ignorant." 55 (Muhammad), you cannot guide whomever you love, but God guides whomever He wants and knows best those who seek guidance. 56 They say, "If we were to follow your guidance, we should be uprooted from our land." But have We not established for them a safe haven to which fruits of every kind are brought as a provision from Ourself? But most of them have no knowledge. 57 And how many a town did We destroy whose inhabitants exulted on account of their affluence. These are their dwellings in which very few dwelt after them. Eventually it is We Who inherited them. 58 Your Lord would never destroy a people until He had sent messengers to their capital cities, reciting to them Our revelations. Nor did We destroy a town unless their people became wrongdoers. 59 The things you have been given, and its adornments, are but the enjoyment of this present life. What is with Allah is better and everlasting. Do you not understand? 60
