The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 near to flowing water 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
