The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 Have fear of God and obey me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. 164 Do you, in the world, want to have carnal relations with males 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 "My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We saved him and his whole family 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
