The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
