AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in Thamud, when We said to them: "Enjoy yourselves for a while;" 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
