The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 No one can avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 such as play at plunging, 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
