Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In a high garden 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
