Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a lofty garden, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
