He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 So you are after him! 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe [of God] 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and herbage 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
