The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 That We created man in toil and trouble. 4 Does he, then, think that no one has power over him? 5 He says, “I destroyed vast wealth.” 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 And what could make thee conceive what it is, that steep uphill road? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 to an orphan near of kin 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 And those who disbelieve Our signs - they are the fellows of the lefthand. 19 On them is fire closed over. 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.
