They will question thee concerning Dhool Karnain. Say: 'I will recite to you a mention of him. 83 Indeed We established him upon the earth, and We gave him to everything a way. 84 and so he chose the right means [in whatever he did]. 85 Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." 86 He said: "We will chastise him who does wrong, whereafter he will be returned to his Lord and He will chastise him grievously. 87 But as for him who believes, and does righteousness, he shall receive as recompense the reward most fair, and we shall speak to him, of our command, easiness.' 88 And once again he chose the right means [to achieve a right end]. 89 To the extent that when he reached the rising-place of the sun, he found it rising upon a nation for which We had not kept any shelter from it. 90 So; and We encompassed in knowledge what was with him. 91 Then he followed a road 92 Until when he reached (a place) between the two mountains, he found on that side of them a people who could hardly understand a word. 93 They said: 'O Dhu'l-Qarnain, Gog and Magog are oppressing the land. May we pay you some tribute so that you could build a rampart between us and them?" 94 He replied: 'That which my Lord has given me is better, therefore help me with all your power, and I will build a barrier between you and between them. 95 bring me blocks of iron." Then, when he had filled the gap between the mountain sides [he said], "Now blow on the fire with your bellows." When the iron blocks were red with heat, he said, "Bring me molten brass to pour on them." 96 Such was the rampart that Gog and Magog could not scale, nor could they pierce it. 97 He said: This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the promise of my Lord cometh to pass, He will lay it low, for the promise of my Lord is true. 98 ۞ On that day, We will let them surge on one another, and the Horn shall be blown, and We will gather them all together. 99 We will fully expose the view of hell on that Day to the disbelievers, 100 whose eyes were covered against My remembrance, and they were not able to hear. 101
