The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
