S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sad [These letters (Sad etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Quran full of reminding. 1 In fact, the unbelievers are the ones who are boastful and quarrelsome. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 They marvel now that, from among themselves, a warner has come to them. The unbelievers say: 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a marvellous thing.' 5 And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 "What! has the Message been sent to him - (Of all persons) among us?"... but they are in doubt concerning My (Own) Message! Nay, they have not yet tasted My Punishment! 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. 11 Before them, the people of Nooh had denied, and the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun who used to crucify. 12 and so did Thamud and the people of Lot and the people of Aykah. These were all leagued together. 13 Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them). 14
