And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
