And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
