▼ 15 The Hijjr Valley
Al-Hijjr 5 of 6
When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
