The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
