The people of Al-Hijr denied Our apostles; 80 And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them. 81 They hewed their dwellings out of the mountains in safety. 82 But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning, 83 Out of what they had gained, nothing proved to be of any benefit to them. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 Your Lord is the Creator, the Knower. 86 And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an. 87 Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers). 88 and say: "Behold, I am indeed the plain warner [promised by God]! 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 91 Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one, 92 About all what they used to do. 93 Promulgate thou that which thou art commanded, and turn away from the associaters. 94 We suffice you against those who mock, 95 and believe other things to be equal to God. They will soon know the truth. 96 We certainly know that you feel sad about what they say against you. 97 So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]. 98 And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death). 99
