He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
