And assuredly Harun had said unto them afore: O my people! ye are only being tempted thereby; and verily your Lord is the Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command. 90 They said "So long as Moses does not come back we are not going to give it up, and we will remain devoted to it." 91 [Musa (Moses)] said: "O Harun (Aaron)! What stopped you when you saw them going astray; 92 from following after me, did you disobey my order' 93 'Son of my mother' he replied, 'Do not seize my beard nor my head. I was afraid that you might say: "You have divided the Children of Israel and did not uphold my word." 94 Said [Moses]: "What, then, didst thou have in view, O Samaritan?" 95 (Samiri) said: "I saw what they saw not, so I took a handful (of dust) from the hoof print of the messenger [Jibrael's (Gabriel) horse] and threw it [into the fire in which were put the ornaments of the Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, or into the calf]. Thus my inner-self suggested to me." 96 Moses said, "Begone! It shall be your lot to say throughout your life, "Do not touch me," and you will be faced with a fate from which there will be no escape. Now look at your deity to which you have become so devoted: we shall burn it up, and then scatter it into the sea. 97 Your God is none else than Allah, beside Whom there is no god. His knowledge embraces everything." 98 THUS DO WE relate unto thee some of the stories of what happened in the past; and [thus] have We vouchsafed unto thee, out of Our grace, a reminder. 99 Whoso turneth away from it, he verily will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 which they shall bear forever. It will be a grievous burden for them on the Day of Judgement, 101 The Day when the Trumpet will be sounded: that Day, We shall gather the sinful, blear-eyed (with terror). 102 Murmuring among themselves: Ye have tarried but ten (days). 103 We know best what they will say, when their leader most eminent in conduct will say: "Ye tarried not longer than a day!" 104
