The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; 1 Whenever a new advice comes to them from their Lord, they do not listen to it except while playing. 2 In sport being their hearts. And those who do wrong keep secret their private discourse this is but a human being like unto yourselves; will ye then betake yourselves to magic while ye know? 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). 5 Not one city that We destroyed before them believed; what then, will they not believe? 6 And We sent not before thee but men unto whom We revealed; so ask the people of the admonition if ye know not. 7 nor did We fashion them as bodies that ate not food, neither were they immortal; 8 Then we fulfilled the promise unto them. So we delivered them and whom We would, and We destroyed the prodigals. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
