And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 besides, they accuse me of a crime, and I fear that they may put me to death." 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 Go, then, to Pharaoh and say to him: 'The Lord of the Universe has sent us 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 Pharaoh said: "Did we not bring you up among us when you were a child? 18 Yet you committed the deed you did, surely you are one of the ingrates." 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' 22 Pharaoh said: 'And what is the Lord of the Worlds' 23 Said Moosa, “Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them; if you believe.” 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 Moses said: "(He is) Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of yore." 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 He said: Lord of the east and the west and whatsoever is in-between, if ye understand. 28 [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." 29 He said: Even though I show thee something plain? 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 Then he drew out his hand, and it was luminous to the onlookers. 33
