[AND the tribe of] Ad gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
