And a sign unto them is the dead land. We quicken it and thereout We bring forth grain, so that thereof they eat. 33 And there We made gardens of palms and vines, and in it We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 that they might eat of its fruits and their hands' labour. What, will they not be thankful? 35 Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know. 36 A sign for them is the night. From it We withdraw the day and they are in darkness. 37 The sun runs to its fixed resting place; that is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower. 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 The sun cannot overtake the moon, nor can the night outpace the day: each floats in [its own] orbit. 40 Another sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark. 41 And We made similar vessels for them to ride. 42 If it were Our will, We could drown them: then there would be no helper [to hear their cry], nor could they be saved. 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 When it is said to such people: “Guard yourselves against what is ahead of you and what has preceded you that mercy be shown to you” (they pay scant heed to it). 45 Never came a token of the tokens of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it! 46 And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 And they say: when will this promise be fulfilled if ye say sooth? 48 They await but one Shout, which will seize them while they dispute. 49 And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return. 50
