Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 And those [clouds] carrying a load [of water] 2 Then by oath of those which move with ease. 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
