۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
