Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets outspread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
