The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
