The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing! 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 So the Noble Messenger of Allah said to them, “Stay away from the she camel of Allah, and from its turn to drink.” 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
