Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha, Meem. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful, 2 A Book, the verses of which are distinguished, an Arabic Koran for a nation who know. 3 A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not. 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 Surely those who believe, and do righteous deeds shall have a wage unfailing.' 8
