In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 The verses of this Book have been fully expounded. It is a reading in the Arabic language for the people of knowledge. 3 Giving glad tidings and heralding warning; so most of them turned away, therefore they cannot listen (to the truth). 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 who pay not the alms, and disbelieve in the world to come. 7 The righteously striving believers will have a never-ending reward". 8
