He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fears (Allah), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
