The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
